Vanessa Iafolla, Artist – Halifax

Vanessa Iafolla is an interdisciplinary photographer who holds a doctorate in Criminology and Sociolegal Studies from the University of Toronto, a Master of Education (Counselling) from Acadia University, and is completing a Master of Fine Arts (2026) at NSCAD University. Her artistic practice is informed by her ethnographic work and qualitative research training in criminology and sociology. Her current research focuses on the death of her brother, Tristan, in February 2024. Her MFA exhibition, It Is What It Is, is on display at the Anna Leonowens Gallery until February 14. She will give an artist’s talk at the gallery on February 6.
