Name: Macleod´s Books
Address: 455 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 1V2
Hours: Daily 10-6pm
If you are excited by the notion of excavating through a badlands of paper to find your next haul of reading material, at Macleod´s you could start with a note that says, "Please find the Faulkner paperback collection on the floor." I´m not sure if I spend more time or money in here, but I definitely need to be in a certain kind of mood...
Name: Paper Hound
Address: 344 West Pender Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 1T1
Hours: Sun-Thurs 10am-7pm, Fri-Sat 10am-8pm
Just down the street from Macleod´s is its visually calmer and more orderly quirky counterpart. The shop is defined by a subtle zigzagging bookshelf that bisects the space, making it an interesting space to navigate. One of the best things about this place is its selection of enigmatic pamphlets and old poetry periodicals housed in the flat file just beyond the poetry section.
Address: 530 Robson Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 2B7
Hours: Mon-Thurs 10am-10pm, Fri-Sat 10am-12am, Sun 10-9pm
It is what it sounds like, a Japanese inspired hot dog and far, far, better than a California roll. This is their first restaurant location, in addition to having a few stands around Downtown Vancouver. There are often lines out the door, but it goes relatively quickly, and the dine-in tables have a high turn over rate.

Hours: Mon-Thurs 11am-9pm, Fri 11am-10pm, Sat 12:30pm-10pm, Closed Sunday
Just around the corner from the Pacific Cinematheque, this small Lebanese bakery makes everything fresh to order, so if you´re coming here to grab a bite before a double feature, give yourself at least half an hour, it´s worth the wait! Even still, you may end up having to sneak it into the movie anyway. Cheap eats in this area pale in comparison with the $4.50 Zataar Herbal Mix.
