9TH ANNUAL JURIED ART SHOW

March 8 - May 4, 2013

Opening reception: Friday, March 8, 2013 7-9pm @ Quest Art


This is an open call to all Ontario based artists working in any medium. Artists may submit up to 2 works in their application.

Juried Categories:

  • Two-dimensional work
  • Three-dimensional work
  • Photography


Awards:

Prizes in each of the categories will be awarded:

1st: $200
2nd: $150

Visitors will be invited to vote and award to be presented at close of exhibition

Quest Art

Established in 1995, Quest Art is dedicated to the education and development of visual arts in the North Simcoe region. Quest Art offers quality visual arts programs that provide learning through continuing education, exposure through exhibition programs and interaction through community outreach. We are strong leaders in the local arts community, engaging the community through our dynamic art activities.
Quest Art is located in downtown Midland, Ontario in the state of the art Midland Cultural Centre.

Terms of Entry:
Open to all Ontario based artists, except jurors, their families and those with whom they reside.


Submissions:
Works will be juried by CD/DVD. Up to two original works can be submitted for jurying; must have been created in the last 12 months.
Entries will be accepted until 5pm on Monday, January 28, 2013. Entry fee per artist: $30.

CD/DVD requirements:

Entry numbers on the form must correspond with the file names on the CD/DVD. Save files as

entry1yourlastname, etc. Images must be 1000 pixels on the longest side.Submissions can include paintings in all mediums: works of mixed-media; hand-pulled prints; fibre art and sculpture (free standing and two-dimensional), photography, new media, and video.
Entry fee is non-refundable. Payment, in the form of cash, cheque or money order payable to Quest Art, must accompany entries. Entries with post-dated cheques will not be accepted.

Size:
Maximum size for two-dimensional artwork is 52 inches wide by 142 inches high. NOTE: 52 inches is the maximum width per piece to be wall mounted. Diptychs and triptychs cannot exceed these dimensions. 3-dimensional work must not exceed three (3) cubic feet.


Presentation: All works accepted to the show must be ready for display. Work must be dry and ready to be hung or mounted. Quest Art reserves the right to reject unacceptable framing, works not ready to hang or works which are misrepresented on the CD/DVD. Giclees of paintings are considered reproductions and are not acceptable. Works produced during class or workshops cannot be accepted.


Quest Art will receive a 30% commission on all sales. All works entered must be available for sale.
Works not meeting the above criteria will not be accepted or presented to the jurors. All entries meeting the above criteria will be juried and the decision of the jurors is final. Accepted submissions may be used in print or electronic media by Quest Art.

For results of jurying, please include your email address. Results will not be sent by mail. If you would like your submission returned to you, please enclose a self-address stamped envelope with sufficient postage. Results will be emailed no later than Friday, February 1, 2013. CDs/DVDs will also be available for pick up at Quest Art from March 4-May 6, 2013. After that date, they will be destroyed.

Receiving of selected work will take place at Quest Art on Monday, March 4 and Tuesday, March 5 from 10 –5pm ONLY. Works will be accepted if they are mailed or shipped (costs incurred are the responsibility of the artist). Please contact gallery to discuss these arrangements.

Unsold, exhibited work must be picked up Monday, May 6, 2013 between 10-5pm.

STORAGE IS NOT AVAILABLE.

Insurance is the responsibility of the entrant. Quest Art is not responsible for work not picked up at the specified time and will assume no responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur during show.

No entry may be withdrawn once it has been accepted and selected work must remain in the gallery for the duration of the show.

You are welcome to include a maximum 200 word artist bio.
Please ensure your image resolution is as clear as possible. New media and video submissions must be accompanied by clear exhibition specifications. Artists may be contacted by the jury for further consultation.

February 1 Notification of acceptance by email. No results will be mailed or given by phone.
March 4 and 5 Delivery of accepted work to Quest Art 10-5pm
March 8 Exhibition opens
March 8 Opening Reception and Awards Presentation 7-9pm
May 4 Exhibition closes
May 5 Pick-up of work
Artists should plan to attend opening reception, if possible
