Exhibition Date: Thursday, January 7th – 29th, 2010

About the Competition:
Each year, Living Lighting on King will provide artists with a light fixture to be rethought, reworked and recreated for their annual Illuminated Art competition.  Artists selected will provide their fixtures for display at Living Lighting on King from January 7th-29th, 2009.  All artworks submitted will be available for purchase through The Cryptic Canvas Gallery during the competition.

An opening night reception will be held the evening of January 7th, 2010.  Invites will include collectors, interior designers, interior decorators, architects, other galleries and local media.

Living Lighting on King will evaluate all submitted artwork and provide a $500 cash prize to the winner of the competition.

Submission & Participation Details:
Artists will submit their artwork concepts to Living Lighting on King by noon Friday December 11th.  Living Lighting on King will select 10 artists to participate in the exhibition. Only artists that are selected will be notified on Monday December 14th.

Selected Artists will use the CSA approved fixture displayed here.  The fixture can be purchased at cost for [$40.00].  The following guidelines must be followed to qualify the artwork for submission:
  • While the canopy (piece that attaches to ceiling) can be decorated, it cannot be deformed or punctured in any way.
  • The total weight of the finished artwork cannot exceed 10lbs unless support wires are attached or it is supported from below.
  • Electrical components including wire and socket cannot be altered.  The wire can be decorated but no metallic wire or material can be attached to it and it cannot be punctured.
  • The fixture frame must remain intact and be completely removable to allow for access to the socket.  No materials can be used on the inside of the frame
  • The crystal pieces can be used or discarded.
  • Artwork cannot be wider than 2ft square unless permission has been granted by Living Lighting on King
