AGYU Book launch November 29th

image

You are cordially invited to the launch of the two most recent Art Gallery of York University (AGYU) publications on the evening of Thursday, November 29th, 2019. The launch will run from 7:30 to 9:00 pm, and be held at Type Books, 883 Queen Street West, Toronto.

The first book is Iris Häussler: The Sophie la Rosière Project, a faux catalogue raisonné of the imagined early-twentieth-century artist Sophie la Rosiére. Contributions include texts by curators Philip Monk, Rui Mateus Amaral, and Catherine Sicot, art historian Gérard Audinet, and psychoanalyst Yan Pélissier, as well as the work of Iris Häussler, Sophie La Rosière, and Florence [Hasard].

The second is The Long Now: Public Studio, which documents the collaborative art practice of filmmaker Elle Flanders and architect Tamira Sawatzky, collectively known as Public Studio. A wide-ranging interview with the artists by curators Emelie Chhangur and Philip Monk interrogates the frameworks from which their engaged practice emerged. Additional reflections on their work come from essays by TJ Demos, John Greyson, Susan Schuppli, and Jayne Wilkinson.

We look forward to seeing you there.
