Known as the oldest allegorical symbol in alchemy, the ouroboros represented the concept of eternity and endless return. The symbol of a snake eating its own tail in a closed circle has been found in varied contexts and geographies. The artists in the exhibition Ouroboros at St. Anne’s Anglican Church pose an inquiry into the cyclical themes of connectedness and continuity through each artwork.
- Jennifer Rudder (excerpt from Ouroboros Exhibition Text)

Ouroboros is an immersive group exhibit featuring the work of artists Ellen Bleiwas, Emily DiCarlo, Gunilla Josephson, Adrienne Trent, and Marian Wihak, with Exhibition Text by Jennifer Rudder. Located at St. Anne’s Anglican Church in Toronto, the exhibition runs September 22 – October 14, Friday to Sunday, noon-5pm, with an Opening Reception on Thursday September 27, 6-9pm.

Presenting architecturally integrated installations, site-specific sculptures, and multi-channel video projects, Ouroboros focuses on themes of cyclical time, the weight of history, and the connecting power of memory. Visitors are invited to explore the historic site and its sculptural responses – a collision of contemporary art and Byzantine Revival architecture.
