Show Your Work at the 9th Annual Toronto Design Offsite Festival, January 18-27, 2019

The Toronto Design Offsite Festival (TO DO) is Canada’s largest cultural celebration of design and brings people together to celebrate contemporary design across the city January 18-27, 2019, forming Toronto’s design week.

Join the Festival to become a part of an exciting network of creative people, exhibitions, events, and a captive audience of designers and design-lovers. In January 2018, we had 140K + visitors, 95+ million press impressions, and 500+ million total brand impressions. From design talks to experimental installations to prototypes to opening parties and curated exhibitions, the Festival featured the work of over 800 designers and artists in 2018.

6 Ways to Participate

1. Apply to our Guest Artist and Designer Program
Deadline: Friday, September 14, 2018

This is for you if:
You are a designer or artist who is looking for a free venue for your exhibition, event, or window installation.

Benefits include:
Selecting from a great range of host venues, showcasing creative work to a diverse audience, and visibility through your listing in our printed Festival Guide, website, and mobile apps.

2. Submit Your Work for Our Prototype Exhibition: ‘Work/Life’
Deadline: Friday, September 21, 2018

This is for you if:
You are a Canadian designer or artist who wants to create an original houseware and/or working product for contemporary life.

Benefits include:
Having your work featured alongside a group of Canadian artists and designers at the Umbra Store, artist fee, and visibility through the exhibition listing in our printed Festival Guide, website, and mobile apps. All selected prototypes will also be considered for addition to Umbra’s growing roster of quality products, to be manufactured, distributed, and sold through the Umbra brand, with royalty.

3. Submit Your Work for Our Graphic Design Exhibition: ‘Design Unseen’
Deadline: Friday, September 21, 2018

This is for you if:
You are a designer or artist working in the field of graphic design and communications who wants to exhibit your work in a group exhibition curated by the Festival with Lauren Wickware.

Benefits include:
Having your work featured alongside artists and designers at the School of Design at George Brown College, artist fee, and visibility through the exhibition listing in our printed Festival Guide, website, and mobile apps.

You are a designer or artist who wants to exhibit your work in a thematic group exhibition curated by the Festival.

5. Submit a Talk for the TO DO Symposium: Unlocking the Future of Work
Deadline: Friday, September 21, 2018

This is for you if:
You are a designer, educator, or researcher who wants to share your work with the public at our Symposium. Talks may be about current research or case studies, new products or technologies, spaces or experiences, speculative design or strategies, or new processes or policies.

Benefits include:
Sharing your work with 250 captive attendees at George Brown College, meeting other leaders in the field, and visibility through the Symposium listing in our printed Festival Guide, website, and mobile apps.

6. Produce Your Own Event or Exhibition
Deadline: Monday, October 5, 2018

Independently-produced events, exhibitions, and window installations are integral to the Festival’s structure. We welcome all who want to present, discuss, demonstrate, or exhibit design in any field and/or related disciplines. Exhibitors include independent designers, artists, design firms, local businesses, academic and cultural institutions, and students.

This is for you if:
You are a designer, artist, organization, or business that has an event, exhibition, or window installation you want to self-produce and register with the Festival.

Benefits include:
Showcasing creative work to a diverse audience, meeting designers and design-lovers, and visibility through your listing in our printed Festival Guide, website, and mobile apps.

You should know:
You are entirely responsible for the content and venue of your event or exhibition.
