Far Afield presents

Touchstones: Deep Time in the Near Future
Lexie Owen, Carrielynn Victor, and Lianne Zannier

Curated by Caitlin Chaisson

1 September - 30 September, 2018

Agassiz, British Columbia | Unceded Coast Salish Territory

Far Afield is pleased to present Touchstones: Deep Time in the Near Future, an ambitious three-part curatorial series featuring the work of artists Lexie Owen, Carrielynn Victor, and Lianne Zannier. Throughout the month of September, these unique artist projects will address ideas of hidden or embedded knowledge, nature’s intelligence, and systems of value.

Touchstones originated as an investigation into a time capsule that was buried on a farm in Agassiz on September 14, 1988. On the occasion of its thirtieth anniversary, each of the artists' contributions work to address the visibility or invisibility of certain types of knowledge or practices. The artists pensively suggest new ways of thinking about historical transmissions, and how these manifest in local environments.

Touchstones is comprised of three solo presentations.
