EXHIBITION XIII

OPENING: Friday, April 20, 2018 from 16:00-22:00
ON VIEW: April 20 – May 5, 2018
SPAO Centre
77 Pamilla Street, Ottawa, K1S 3K7

The School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa proudly presents Exhibition XIII, the first end-of-year exhibition at the new SPAO Centre. This thirteenth portfolio exhibition celebrates the work of our diploma students and highlights the thirteen members of the 2018 graduating class.

Over the past year, our full-time students have been working tirelessly to create innovative installations and portfolios to display their photographic craft. This diverse group of emerging talent is pushing the boundaries of the photographic medium, working with 8x10 polaroids, silver gelatin, and digital pigment prints.

The SPAO Centre opened its doors to the public on November 10, 2017 to a record 1,000+ attendees. We are humbled by the continued support of our new neighbours, patrons, and the SPAO community. With Exhibition XIII, we will share how the School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa is shaping the next generation of photo-based artists.

Now Accepting Applications for the Full-Time Diploma Program!

ABOUT THE SPAO CENTRE

After 12 years of operating in Ottawa’s Byward Market, SPAO relocated to a new purpose built facility in 2017. Located in the heart of Little Italy, an exciting urban village, the SPAO Centre is on the footsteps of Ottawa's new Light Rail Transit system, the beautiful Arboretum and Dow’s Lake. Our ground level, accessible facility offers the resources and environment necessary for the advancement of photographic artistry, visual literacy, and personal vision. This centre includes a multi-station, multi format darkroom for silver gelatin printing, a digital media lab and a large studio outfitted with industry standard equipment. Considered Ottawa’s photographic hub, the SPAO Centre houses the School of the Photographic Arts: Ottawa, the SPAO Gallery and the SPAO International Artist Residency.
