Now Accepting Applicants for Fall 2018

INFORMATION SESSION
Thursday, June 14th 5:30 – 7:30pm
Create Studio, 468 Queen St. East, Suite LL01

The Create Institute offers a three-year training program in Expressive Arts Therapy. The program is designed to immerse students in an intensive, arts-based educational process that is beneficial for their professional development as expressive arts therapists, as well as for their personal and creative growth. The curriculum includes experiential, practical and theoretical training both in class and as offered through a variety of practicum placement sites.

The Create Institute Expressive Arts training program provides a theoretical basis in the field of Expressive Arts Therapy, while familiarizing students with those elements of therapeutic practice common to all approaches. As well as theory, we emphasize experiential learning, in which students are encouraged to explore the different dimensions of artistic practice in community and in individual studio work. We especially encourage intermodal work in our classes and workshops. We also stress an adult-education model where students are recognized as having the capacity to understand and shape their own learning process.

WORKSHOPS AND TRAINING WITH EXPRESSIVE ARTS:

Introduction to Expressive Arts Therapy Course (October-February)

This 16-week foundation course is designed for professionals who would like to expand their skills to include creative and artistic ways of working with others in a helping relationship. The course will teach the basic principles and practice drawn from core literature in the field of intermodal expressive arts as used in therapy, coaching, education and social change. Because CREATE Institute emphasizes experiential learning, students are encouraged to explore how different dimensions of artistic action can connect to their own work and life.

Registration deadline September 24th
(Register before August 31st and receive an early registration discount of $100)

Workshop Series Spring 2018

The Create Institute is pleased to offer this intermodal workshop series from May to June 2018. All workshops will be facilitated by our talented and experienced graduates at our studio space in downtown Toronto.

We encourage Psychotherapists, Therapists in Training, Social Workers and other Social Service Providers, Front-line Workers, Artists, potential students for the Create program and curious community members interested in personal growth, to join us in exploring the process of the Expressive Arts and how they shape us as both creator and witness. No previous experience in the arts or therapy is necessary for any of the workshops, just bring your curiosity!

THE CREATE CLINIC
Low Cost Expressive Arts Therapy

The Create Clinic provides accessible and affordable expressive arts therapy to children, youth, adults, couples and families from diverse backgrounds. It serves people with a wide range of needs in the wider Toronto area. Senior level student therapists who work with clients are supervised by experienced and qualified faculty members who are in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists and/or other professional Colleges. The student therapy clinic operates from the core principles and theory of expressive arts therapy taught at The Create Institute, which includes using play and imagination to support one’s life struggles. Through visual art, movement, music, theatre, poetry and story telling new possibilities emerge and clients gain awareness of how their resources allow them to overcome obstacles. Art making in relationship is at the heart of our approach to therapy.

If you are interested in setting up an appointment or getting more information about the clinic, please leave us a confidential message at the following address and we will get back to you promptly: thecreateclinic@gmail.com or call (416) 539-9728.
