GENIUS IN FOCUS: THE IMPRESSIONISM SERIES

The newest addition to the TEVLIN ATELIER is Genius in Focus. In these Art Talks pivotal works from the History of Art are discussed in detail, placing them historically as well as artistically, explaining by whom their creators were influenced and whom they influenced in turn, as well as analyzing them technically, symbolically and psychoanalytically. We will look at other works by the artist to describe the evolution of the artistic idea, as well as related works by other artists who worked in the same genre throughout history.

Each painting has been chosen for it's archetypal position in today's popular culture. In all eight paintings we will discuss the fascinating contemporary research available to us now.

We will discuss the following paintings:

  • OLYMPIA (MANET)
  • THE BELLELLI FAMILY (DEGAS)
  • LUNCHEON OF THE BOATING PARTY (RENOIR)
  • ROUEN CATHEDRAL (MONET)
  • AU MOULIN ROUGE (LAUTREC)
  • MONT SAINT VICTOIRE (CEZANNE)
  • THE YELLOW HOUSE (VAN GOGH)
  • NEVERMORE (GAUGUIN)

Starts July 10, Thursday, 2pm to 4pm (8 weeks)

Costs $270 for 8 classes

Registrations are now being accepted.
