The City of Mississauga’s Culture Division invites artists to submit proposals for temporary Public Art, Youth Poet Laureate and Art on the Screens.

Current Calls for Submission

Be the Next Youth Poet Laureate
This honorary position recognizes a young poet who writes excellent poetry or spoken word and has written on themes that are relevant to the citizens of Mississauga.
Submission Deadline: March 18, 2018

Luminous: Small Arms Building Temporary Public Art
Submit a proposal for light art that will sit on the roof of the Small Arms building to be mainly visible from Lakeshore Road East. This can include neon, LED or other light-emitting sources.
Submission Deadline: March 22, 2018

Small Arms Building Chimney Temporary Public Art
Submit a proposal for artwork for the 11 meter chimney above the Small Arms building's main entrance. The artwork can also be extended to the roof area directly below the chimney.
Submission Deadline: March 22, 2018

The Work of Wind: Air, Land, Sea Temporary Public Art
Produced in partnership with the Blackwood Gallery, University of Toronto Mississauga, this installation will form part of the Blackwood Gallery's multi-site exhibition that will demonstrate the potential of contemporary art as a cultural lens through which to explore a plurality of perspectives on environmental crises.
Submission Deadline: March 26, 2018

Art on the Screens 2018
Submit digital, screen based work in all genres based on the theme everything is always falling apart / everything is always coming together. Art on the Screens is an annual series hosted at Mississauga Celebration Square on Monday nights throughout the summer, with additional short form screenings throughout the week.
