Call for Proposals
Artist-Led Community Mural
Queen Elizabeth Community and Cultural Centre
Town of Oakville

Deadline: October 22, 2017 Midnight. EST
Artist Fee: $3,000 CAD (maximum)

The Town of Oakville invites professional artists to submit proposals to create a community mural for a generator located at the entrance of Queen Elizabeth Community and Cultural Centre. The final artwork will be a digital mural to be printed onto vinyl wrapping media that will cover a 29’ wide x 9’ high generator. The selected proposal will engage the local community in the artwork design and reflect on the community centre.

Eligible artists will be art professionals with outdoor mural, large installation or public art experience. This call is open to national artists, however preference will be given to artists living within the Greater Toronto Area community. Artists with demonstrated connections to Oakville will be given priority. Proposals will be assessed based on artistic merit, relevance of the proposed artwork to the site and demonstrated capacity to complete the project.

Submission requirements:

  1. Artist curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages).
  2. Proposal. A project description outlining your experience, your approach to engaging the local community in the creation of the artwork, and a community project plan and timeline (maximum 2 pages).
  3. A maximum of 5 images of your artwork related to this project (i.e. large scale paintings, murals or design projects).

Project timeline:

  • Submission Deadline: October 22, 2017, Midnight
  • Artist Notification: October 2017
  • Community Engagement: November 2017
  • Installation Project Completion and Public Launch: December 2017


Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) located at 2302 Bridge Road, is a one-of-a-kind, multi-use facility featuring more than 144,000 square feet of activity space, making it one of the largest venues in Canada to house a diverse collection of artistic, cultural and active living program opportunities, and cultural organizations.

QEPCCC offers inspiring programs for all ages and abilities including classes, workshops, camps and drop-in activities. The facility boasts an aquatics centre, fitness centre, two gymnasia, a rock climbing wall, a youth centre, an older adults centre, dance studios, a recording studio, fine arts studios, a rehearsal hall, black box theatre, galleries, and museum space.
