FADE TO GOLD – the art of Bruno Capolongo
Joseph D. Carrier Art Gallery - Toronto’s “mini Guggenheim”

September 15 – October 16, 2017
Reception: September 14, 6:30-9:30 pm

The Carrier Gallery presents a museum styled exhibit of over fifty pieces - the largest exhibition ever - of the artist’s work. ‘Fade to Gold - the art of Bruno Capolongo’ is a visual journey spanning a period of over twenty years. While not a survey of the artist’s eclectic work, our focus is a stream of consciousness beginning with select early pieces that offer striking insight into future artistic endeavours foreshadowing the convergent influence of Kintsugi in recent years.

Featured strongly in this exhibit are the metaphorically rich Kintsugi paintings. Through didactics and digital media visitors will gain behind-the-scenes knowledge into the process behind the making of these viscerally evocative tableaux, most of which begin in “chaos,” which Capolongo asserts as “a different, less understood creative force in life.” Our exhibit culminates in the hauntingly beautiful and cathartic ‘Yearning’ cycle of works; almost impossible to experience photographically due to their deep translucent layers, varied and reflective surfaces. Come and see.

All art is yearning” Bruno Capolongo
