Get inspired by the Art Gallery’s collection and exhibitions and create art in a large, fully-equipped, sunlight-filled studio space on the Gallery’s main floor. All classes are taught by professional practicing artists from the region, who are experienced teachers. FROM LIFE WITH LOIS GREEN

From Life utilizes a live model to explore the human figure from different points of view. Benefit from the experience of regional artist Lois Green and explore traditional life drawing using various media. Intermediate and advanced levels of experience are welcome. Easels provided for up to 16 participants.

Join us for six weeks of egg tempera painting explorations! Under the guidance of regional artist Joanna McEwen, participants will be introduced to the history, function and special properties of this luminescent medium. By focusing on a long-term painting project, participants will gain confidence painting using traditional and contemporary egg tempera materials and techniques. Beginner and intermediate levels of experience are welcome.

Take your oil painting to the next level! Under the guidance of regional artist Pauline Bradshaw, participants will be introduced to the art of grisaille as a traditional underpainting method using tones to create luminosity, value and depth in oil painting. Join Vancouver artist Landon Mackenzie for a full-day master painting workshop! Beginning with a guided tour of her solo exhibition at the MacLaren, participants will explore abstraction and representations of the subconscious using intuitive and expressive painting techniques. This is a rare opportunity to make art under the guidance of this master painter and Governor General award-winning artist.

MASTER WATERCOLOUR PAINTING WITH ROD PROUSE
