Fundraising and Communications Specialist

The Dundas Art and Craft Association which operates as The CARNEGIE GALLERY wants to hire a Communications & Fundraising Specialist, immediately. The Gallery is a not-for-profit corporation and is a registered charity located in Dundas. The Gallery promotes and exhibits Canadian visual arts and crafts, particularly from the Greater Hamilton Area.

As Communications & Fundraising Specialist you will work with the Curator, the Board of Directors, volunteers and artist members. The job involves grant writing, developing sponsorships, newsletter editing, gallery promotions and some banking responsibilities.

The work week is 24 hours and involves daytime, some evening and weekend attendances.

The duties of Communications & Fundraising Specialist include:

  • development and implementation of social media strategies
  • grant writing
  • leading fundraising activities
  • sponsorship development
  • quarterly newsletter compilation, printing and distribution
  • development of a membership campaign
  • customer service and public relations
  • liaising with the Board, committees
  • limited banking responsibilities under supervision of the Treasurer

Successful applicants should be a self-starter and also have the following skills and interests:

  • excellent administrative, computer and social media skills
  • grant writing and fundraising experience
  • post-secondary education and a background in the arts
  • experience in electronic/print promotion
  • graphic design experience would be an asset
  • public relations and customer/audience development experience
  • excellent communications skills
  • a willingness to work flexible hours
  • ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
