Opening Today at the Aga Khan Museum
HERE: Locating Contemporary Canadian Artists
July 22, 2017 to January 1, 2018

image

Our newest exhibition celebrates the diversity of 21 artists through Museum-wide installations of photography, video, sculpture, and more. Curated by artist and researcher Swapnaa Tamhane, HERE: Locating Contemporary Canadian Artists explores the layered histories of people and places to reveal surprising connections between the many cultures that make up Canada today — and what it means to be “here.”

The entire Museum is a canvas for expression and conversation during HERE: view Jamelie Hassan’s Bench from Cordoba, a colourful sculpture of glazed ceramic tile, in the Bellerive Room; be greeted by Jaret Vadera’s Ascent, a vibrant video installation, as you stroll through the lower-level entrance tunnel; enjoy Brette Gabel’s Blanket, a patterned textile composed of found and recycled cloth, in the sunlit atrium.

Join the Museum in celebrating Canada’s 150 years as a nation through the exhibition and its related programming: from dynamic lectures to on-stage performances, there’s something to enjoy for curious people of all ages.

HERE: Locating Contemporary Canadian Artists is on from July 22, 2017 to January 1, 2018. For details, visit agakhanmuseum.org/HERE.
