Call to Artists – Canada 150 Public Art Project - City of St. Albert

The City of St. Albert’s Art in Public Places program is seeking Expressions of Interest from professional artists and artist teams to create one three-dimensional public artwork in recognition of Canada’s 150th Anniversary. This is a competition for a public artwork that thoughtfully responds to the context of its site location and the community of St. Albert, a vibrant, innovative and thriving community.

Three possible site locations for the Canada 150 public artwork have been identified. Situated within different areas of St. Albert, the locations provide distinct public art opportunities offering maximum public visibility, engagement and enjoyment of the public art.

Artist(s)/teams are asked to select one primary site location from the three provided, and develop an artwork concept for the site. As part of this competition, artists are asked to include a public engagement component. Public engagement includes any scope of work that engages community members, groups or partners of St. Albert during the production phase of the artwork and/or following installation of the artwork.

Project Budget $240,000 (inclusive of all costs)

Submission Deadline
2:00pm MDT, August 17th, 2017

Eligibility
This call is open to qualified artists and artist teams demonstrating the ability to manage all phases of the public art process from research through to production and installation. Qualified artist(s)/teams must be Canadian citizens either residing in Canada or living abroad.
