JOB POSTING: EDUCATION OFFICER

Quest Art School + Gallery seeks an Education Officer to plan and grow their visual arts education programs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing and overseeing classes and workshops for adults and seniors and classes and camps for children and teens. They will establish relationships with the local elementary schools to grow and foster our curriculum-based Quest Art in Your Classroom program, plus other outreach opportunities. They will further develop community partnerships and organize free art activities at community events. They will be responsible for training and scheduling summer staff and volunteer instructor assistants. They will serve as staff support for the Adult Education and Young Artists’ Program committees and will act as chair, in the absence of a committee chair.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a BFA or equivalent work experience is required
  • Experience planning and delivering visual arts education programming is required
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Broad knowledge of a variety of visual arts media, materials and techniques
  • Experience with website maintenance and social media
  • Graphic design skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • Retail experience an asset
  • Grant writing experience is an asset
  • CPR/AED/Emergency First Aid training is required
  • Vulnerable sector screening and negative search of the pardoned sex offender database is required
  • Must have a driver’s licence and own transportation


Hours: 30 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends. Flexibility in scheduling is required.

Quest Art is a registered charitable organization located in Midland, Ontario on the shores of Georgian Bay. Quest Art was formed in 1995 and became an anchor tenant in the Midland Cultural Centre when it opened its doors in June 2012. The organization’s mission is to engage and enrich the community through visual arts education, exhibition and appreciation. At the moment Quest Art receives no on-going funding from any level of government and relies on project grants, donations, sponsorships, fundraising events, membership fees, program registration fees and commissions on art sales to sustain its operations.
