issue 22 present MIKLOS LEGRADY

On the corruption of Canadian art.

Dario Gamboni’s The Destruction of Art talks about a Swiss sculpture Biennial where the normally staid townspeople vandalized 40% of the works of art but only that made from garbage. Gamboni admitted the work was actually made of garbage taken from the trash, but it had been declared art by experts. He could not understand how the townspeople still thought it was garbage.

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes? is a Latin phrase found in the work of the Roman poet Juvenal from his Satires (Satire VI, lines 347–8). It is literally translated as "Who will guard the guards themselves”? Recently a top-tier curator wrote that nobody knows what art is anymore and I was, like, facepalm! If you don’t know what art is, why don’t you ask?

Scholar-poet, Dr. Amatoritsero Ede, Publisher & Managing Editor, amongst others.

A new voice in art criticism, Miklos Legrady is a visual artist, anti-hero and protagonist who is expecting trouble. He steps out of the art world’s blind spot, deconstructing cultural myths and fictions. Emerging as a hybrid between technical wizard, ad buster and poli-sci commentator, he moves through a world of political, social, and cultural intrigue. Like the Energizer Bunny, Legrady just keeps on going and going.
