C Auction Edition
Jennifer Rose Sciarrino
Gut Vase, 2017.
Ceramic and glaze
Edition of 55 + APs
8 x 10 x 4 in.
This year's specially created C Auction Edition is generously supported by La Fondation Emmanuelle Gattuso. “Gut Vase” by Jennifer Rose Sciarrino, is a multi-purpose vessel in the shape of a human stomach, cast and fired in ceramic with a vivid pink glaze. The stomach/gut is one of active organs in the perception of human emotion and is simultaneously a vessel or ecosystem for the most essential bacteria in our body. Our stomachs begin our digestion of nutrients and our gut reaction in our interpretation of the world.
Jennifer Rose Sciarrino is a Toronto-based artist working in sculpture, video and installation. Sciarrino is interested in ways technology affects current and future modes of production, shifts in socio-economic concerns, cultural consumption/participation, and the inevitable environmental consequences of these forces.
The C auction is presented with the generous support of Bonhams Canada, Chair-man Mills, Division Gallery, La Fondation Emmanuelle Gattuso, Grolsch, Les Louises Fine Foods, Museumpros Art Services, Sonic Print, Superframe, TD Bank and Toronto Image Works.
