The Temiskaming Art Gallery is a recognized leader within our community and the Northern arts and culture scene for providing innovative arts programming. TAG is dedicated to developing partnerships with organizations and communities to make art accessible to all while also providing learning and teaching resources.
The 150 Epic Years / 150 années Épiques celebration is sponsored by the Temiskaming Art Gallery in collaboration with the City of Temiskaming Shores.
150 Epic Years / 150 années Épiques is a community celebration to be held June 24, 2017 for Canada’s 150th birthday. This festive occasion will celebrate what it means to be Canadian with historic trivia, a historic costume contest, sing-a-longs featuring cultural favourites, a display of original artistic banners and five main stage performances. These banners will create a colourful and inviting atmosphere during our celebration, which reflects Canada’s multiculturalism and honours Aboriginal Canadian culture.

Call for Artists Description:
The Temiskaming Art Gallery is asking for submission of banners celebrating the 150th anniversary of Canada, the different cultures that founded our nation, and paying tribute to Aboriginal peoples.
The 150 Epic Years / 150 années Épiques selection committee reserves the right to accept artworks when suitable and to decide where the works are to be displayed.
A limited selection will be made from the submissions to be reproduced for display throughout the City of Temiskaming Shores. Selected artists will be paid a reproduction fee.

The banners will introduce colour and excitement to the 150th anniversary celebration on June 24, 2017.

The banners should reflect any of the following themes as embraced in the three founding cultures (Aboriginal, French, & English):
Heritage, industry, celebrities, sustainability, environment, buildings, arts, technology, transportation, innovation, Canada’s future, sports, etc.
Banners will measure 36 inches wide by 72 inches long OR 12 inches wide by 36 inches long, be weather resistant, and easily rolled up. A hem of 2” needs to be included at the top and bottom of the banner for hanging purposes. Artists are responsible for return shipping and handling.
All banners will be for sale with the minimum sale price to be set by the artist. The Temiskaming Art Gallery will receive 20% commission on every banner sale.
2 awards of excellence of $500 will be given, 1 for each category.
