Currently an employment opportunity exists in our Development Department for a Development Officer - Individual Giving. Reporting to the Senior Development Officer, Individual Giving, this position will manage all aspects of Harbourfront Centre’s Individual Giving Campaign for donors under $1,000 including the acquisition of new Individual and Family Foundation donors, renewal of current supporters, targeted acquisition appeals, upgrading strategies, on-site giving campaigns and donor stewardship. This position is responsible for writing all donor communication pieces including donor newsletters, appeal letters, brochures and web text, as well as the research into Family Foundations and the creation of proposal templates for foundation funding. The Development Officer will also oversee the daily processing of solicited donations and coordinate fundraising appeals and stewardship in conjunction with Harbourfront Centre’s year round programming.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Work with the Senior Development Officer and Director of Development to develop and implement Individual Annual Giving Campaign strategy and design, including prospecting, stewardship, solicitation, renewals, moves management and strategic planning.
  • Develop, generate and distribute all correspondence, brochures, newsletter and other printed and online materials associated with the campaign and targeted appeals. Liaise with appropriate HFC staff concerning strategy, production and distribution of materials.
  • Provide exceptional donor relations and stewardship to HFC donors, follow up to solicitations, ticket concierge and event relations.
  • Coordinate all annual renewals, direct mail, phone, face-to-face and online fundraising initiatives and manages the logistics of campaigns.
  • Oversee the integrity of Tessitura as it relates to Individual Giving including the generation of reports.
  • Manage all aspects of donor events as it relates to Annual Giving and assist Senior Development Officer in planning high end donor events such as Board receptions.
  • Prepare and monitor Annual Giving budget in conjunction with the Senior Development Officer, both expense and revenue and prepare regular reports for Director, Development.

 

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in Fundraising and Annual Giving campaigns and have an understanding of the not-for-profit environment particularly the arts and cultural sector. He /she must possess exceptional interpersonal and relationship management skills to deal effectively and tactfully with donors, Board members and all levels of staff.  He/she must have excellent computer skills and the ability to learn new computer programmes quickly. Excellent oral and written communication skills, strong research and organizational skills as well as good attention to detail are required. He/she must have knowledge of CRA guidelines and principals, as well as familiarity with AFP Donor Bill of Rights. He/she must have proven administration skills, sound knowledge of office procedures and systems and be flexible as some evening and weekend work is required.
