This fall, our 4th Annual Lecture may just change the way you see the role of art today. Join us as globally renowned artist eL Seed shares the humanistic vision that infuses his ambitious public art projects. eL Seed’s Arabic calligraffiti has brightened the streets of Paris, the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, and the alleyways of Cairo. He comes to the Aga Khan Museum to tell the story of how his art has shone new light on cultural misperceptions and connected communities along the way.

About the artist:
eL Seed’s intricate calligraphic compositions call not only on the words and their meaning but also on their movement, which ultimately lures the viewer into a different state of mind. eL Seed works primarily with subjects that seem contradictory, his art reacts to the reality of mankind and the world we live in today. He has installed his work in public spaces, galleries, and institutions on every continent. In 2017, he won the UNESCO Sharjah Prize for Arab Culture. eL Seed was named a Global Thinker in 2016 by Foreign Policy for his project ‘Perception’ in Cairo. In 2013, he collaborated with Louis Vuitton on their famous ‘Foulards d’Artistes.’
