BEING SCENE
17th ANNUAL JURIED EXHIBITION

MARCH 1 – 25, 2018
OPENING RECEPTION: MARCH 1, 6 - 9pm
GLADSTONE HOTEL 2nd FLOOR GALLERY
1214 QUEEN STREET WEST

Workman Arts’ annual juried art exhibition features over 130 artworks produced by artists navigating issues of mental health. The annual submission call attracts artists working in painting, sculpture, photo-art, text-based art, media-art and other contemporary media. This year a jury of established professional artists, curators and gallerists have evaluated over 400 artist’s submissions.

Embedded in the prime spring exhibition season, BEING SCENE attracts several thousand visitors. This year’s exhibition features an eclectic Portrait Wall as well as a compelling curated room Off The Wall, highlighting the voices of established artists focusing on issues of identity and mental health in contemporary new media.

As Workman Arts celebrates its 30th anniversary, it continues to bring to the public, thoughtful and thought-provoking presentations such as BEING SCENE to activate vital dialogue and social change to challenge the stigma associated with issues of mental health.
